Résumé
Low temperature waste heat is spare in nature and its amount is huge. However, large portion of the waste heat is discarded due to its poor recovery quality and inferior application technologies. The heat pump system in this research is based on the hybrid combination of compression and absorption systems in order to recycle various kinds of industrial waste heat effectively. The objective of this paper is to analyse the combined heat and mass transfer for ammonia-water absorption process within a plate heat exchanger which can be used as an absorber in the hybrid heat pump systems. Bubble absorption process is considered with a co-current flow between the liquid and the vapor flow. NH3/H2O solution is used as the working fluid and water as the cooling fluid. It is found that absorption process occurs for x(s,in) < 0.55 while desorption does for x(s,in) > 0.55. Especially in the case of x(s,in) = 0.9, strong water desorption occurs until L=1.3 m and then absorption process occurs. It is also found that the decrease of the AR by 68 % reduces the heat exchange size by 37 %, therefore the smaller width and the larger base are recommended for heat exchanger compactness.
