Résumé

In the 1st report (see this Bulletin, reference 2008-0786), the steady state simulation model of the desiccant wheel was built and the validity of this model was confirmed by comparing the simulation results with the experimental ones. In this paper, the optimum design method to minimize the volume of the desiccant wheel is discussed using the steady state simulation model described in the 1st report. Firstly, effects of the system parameters on the volume of the desiccant wheel is investigated to reveal that the system parameters have the optimum points to minimize the volume of wheel. Secondly, the optimum solution under the given design conditions are searched. Finally, effects of the design conditions on the minimum volume of the desiccant wheel is investigated. As a result, the authors found that both the rotary speed and the regeneration side area ratio have the optimum points to minimize the volume of the wheel. However, the radius of the desiccant wheel doesn't have the optimum point. Moreover, effects of the design conditions such as air inlet conditions on the minimum volume of desiccant wheel were clarified.
