Résumé

This paper deals with the application of hydrocarbon single fluids and blends to refrigeration and air-conditioning systems. Close attention has been paid to international activities towards reduction of emission of halogenated compounds to the atmosphere along with present demands for refrigeration fluids. Attempt to answer question on which fluid could be assessed as a substitute for R12 in small refrigeration equipment has been presented in the paper paying close attention to hydrocarbon single fluids and blends. Recommendations for safe operation with these fluids have been formulated. Selected results of investigations carried out with hydrocarbons at the Refrigeration High School in Gdynia have been presented.
