Approches expérimentales et numériques préliminaires pour une meilleure compréhension de la croissance dynamique des bulles d'eau à pression subatmosphérique.

Preliminary experimental and numerical approaches for further understanding of water bubble dynamic growth at subatmospheric pressure.

Résumé

Using water as refrigerant requires to work at an evaporative pressure close to 1 kPa. At this pressure, due to the hydrostatic pressure, the water boiling environment is highly inhomogeneous. In addition to the low vapor density which leads to bubbles of centimeter size, this particularity of the boiling environment makes vaporization phenomena really different than those observed at atmospheric pressure. Phenomena observed are thus very complex and cannot be fully understood by the experimental approach only since many parameters are coupled and involved. Thus, in addition to the experimental study, a numerical approach is conducted to isolate parameters and better understand the bubble growth at such low pressure. After introducing the experimental results obtained, the numerical approach followed is explained. Although, for now, only hydrodynamic phenomena are taking into account, it is shown that results obtained by numerical simulation shows a fairly good qualitative agreement with the experimental data.
