Résumé

In this paper, a methodology for the design of a steam generation heat pump system is proposed. The objective is to develop an improved architecture for flexible steam generation using heat pump systems with high efficiency consuming low carbon-based electricity in order to decarbonize the industrial steam generation. The methodology is based on the exergy analysis starting from the basic circuit of a heat pump until reaching the most advantageous designs taking into consideration the energy and economical points of view. The system should generate steam at 200 °C, and valorize the industrial waste heat at a temperature of 60 °C. The architectures are modelled using Python and compared based on their COP considering different refrigerants, and we find that the best architecture is a combination between a heat pump and several number of MVCs. Moreover, economic, payback time and environmental analyses have been conducted on the suggested solution to estimate the payback time and its improvement on the carbon footprint.
