Résumé
This study has developed an improved method for evaluation and new indicators for declaration of noise from heat pumps. The improvements may lead to better informed consumers and an Energy Labeling scheme that better reflect the actual use of the heat pump and thereby deployment of quieter and less disturbing heat pumps. And as a consequence, larger acceptance of this efficient technology.
17 heat pumps of the types; air/water and brine/water were evaluated through field and laboratory measurements to provided information of how the noise from heat pumps varies over time and at different operating conditions.
The results indicate that noise measurements should be performed at the operating conditions representing an outdoor temperature of 2°C according to the European standard EN14825 (alternatively 7°C for air/water heat pumps, but with the capacity of 2°C). The reason is that this operating condition is the one that best coincide with the seasonal averaged noise. In addition, the maximal noise of the heat pump should be measured to show the customer how the noise can vary and to be able to compare the noise from an on/off heat pump and an inverter-controlled heat pump.
