Caractérisation des hydrates mixtes Cp + CO2 pour des applications frigorifiques.

Characterization of mixed Cp + CO2 hydrates for refrigeration applications.

Résumé

CO2 hydrates were considered in previous studies as a high potential phase change material for cold storage and distribution, due to its adjustable dissociation temperature that can be higher than 273.15 K, and its enthalpy of dissociation higher than that of ice. By adding various organic promoters, such as cyclopentane (CP) in this study, the formation pressure of gas hydrates may be strongly lowered. However, for theapplication of mixed CP + CO2 hydrate slurries in secondary refrigeration loops, their rheological properties need to be controlled. In this work, the flow properties of mixed CP + CO2 hydrate slurries were studied in a dynamic flow loop. The mixed hydrate slurry in the presence of emulsion-stabilizing additive was studied at different additive concentrations, for cyclopentane contents ranging from 3wt% to 15 wt%. A comparison of rheological parameters (viscosity, flow behavior …) between three different hydrate slurries was presented: single CP hydrates, single CO2 hydrates and mixed CP + CO2 hydrate slurries.
