Résumé

To improve heat-exchange performance, heat exchangers with channels with inner diameter of less than 0.5 mm have been studied. However, there is no knowledge about the distribution of vapor-liquid two-phase refrigerant. Therefore, the effect of inflow configuration of a horizontal header (channel cross-section: 0.7 x 0.7 mm2) with branch holes (inner diameter: 0.3 mm; number of holes: 10) arranged vertically downward was experimentally evaluated. The results of the evaluation demonstrate that dimensionless standard deviation of refrigerant distributed in the present header with a one-side inflow configuration is 10%. The effect of mass flux at the header inlet on the distribution for the one-side inflow configuration is small but that for the both-side inflow configuration is large. Moreover, the dimensionless standard deviation for the present header (10%) is much smaller than that for a conventional header (65%) with 13-times-bigger hydraulic diameter.
