Résumé

The decontamination effect of a heat storage cooling system which cools directly the air on the surface of the slush ice was studied. The slush ice produced by ice making machinery was stored in an ice storage tank. A vertical hole through the slush ice pile was opened for the airflow. The air was in contact directly with the ice surface. It seemed that the cold water flowing on the surface of the ice was able to absorb water-soluble pollutants such as ammonia and formaldehyde, which were contained in the air. This decontamination effect was clarified by an experiment using ammonia gas and tobacco smoke. The results show that there is a good correlation between the removal effect and the cooling effect.
