Résumé

In this study, the heat transfer characteristics of supercritical carbon dioxide cooled inside a small size grooved tube are experimentally investigated. The mean inner tube diameter, fin height, and helix angle are 2 mm, 0.15 mm, and 6.3º, respectively. The average area enlargement ratio is 2.0. The experiments are carried out using supercritical carbon dioxide at pressures in the range of 8-10 MPa and mass fluxes in the range of 400-1200 kg/m2.s. The results show that rate of increase in the heat transfer coefficient and the pressure drop for the grooved tube is twice that of a smooth tube with the same mean inner diameter; the higher rate can be attributed to the increase in the heat transfer area. The prediction model for smooth tubes can also be applied for grooved tubes with a small helix angle if the area enlargement ratio is considered.
