Résumé

This article is the Spanish translation of an article presented at the IIR conference in Melbourne, Australia (see the Bulletin of the IIR, reference 2009-1769). Supermarkets use 4% of the USA power grid and 2.2% of the Australian national grid. The typical supermarket uses five times more energy than a typical office building. The refrigerated cases account for about 50% of a typical supermarket energy consumption. Since up to 80% of the refrigerated case is load is from the store, energy savings opportunities in HVAC and refrigeration can result from effective humidity control. This paper focuses on the treatment of outside ventilation air with which accounts for 80-90% of the latent load in a supermarket. Energy modelling of various HVAC systems for RH control is needed for the comparison with refrigeration costs. The paper also analyzes the reduction in refrigerated case operating costs at lower humidity levels. Technical developments in desiccants used as dedicated outdoor air systems can be applied to optimize these energy savings.
