Résumé

The use of polypropylene particles with density close to that of ice aims to elucidate the behaviour of ice/water mixtures under adiabatic conditions. Three models have been already developed: 1) the first one consists in correlating experimental data with dimensional analysis; 2) the second one is based on a rheologic Bingham model. An extended Reynolds number is introduced. The Blasius law computed with this extended Reynolds number is found to be applicable to the two-phase flow in its full range; 3) the third one is a two-layer model that contains the effect of pipe diameter. The model treats the flow as being constituted of two different layers: a stationary or moving bed at the top of the pipe and a heterogeneous flow suspension at the bottom. The results are compared with those obtained for clear water flow and other research on ice slurries such as that conducted by Bel (Cemagref) and that performed on polystyrene-water slurries by Takahashi.
