Résumé

To clarify the hydraulic characteristics of ice slurry made from 6.5% ethylene glycol-water solution flowing in circular pipes, experimental studies were performed. The flow patterns and the pressure drops were measured in acrylic pipes with an inner diameter of 24 mm. The fractions of ice and the mass flow rates were varied from 0 to 30% and from 5 to 70 kg/min, respectively. A sharp increase in the pressure drop was observed when the ice fraction was above 15-20% at the low flow rate range in both horizontal and vertical pipes, while the pressure drop increased gradually with the ice fraction in elbow pipes.
