Résumé

This paper presents a comparison of calculation models for the characteristics evaluation of cross flow heat exchangers. It focuses on condensers only, but the mathematical model is also usable for other heat exchanger types with some with some adjustments. The compact heat exchangers with both fluids unmixed are usually calculated through LMTD method or e-NTU method. These methods are still usable but many scientists modify them to some degree for their purposes. The paper describes the calculation of an exactly measured heat exchanger with two basic methods mentioned above, the modified e-NTU method and LMTD method. The comparison is applied to a heat exchanger with multiport tubes and serpentine fins, the technology which is well known from the automotive industry. Internal fluid working in the compression cycle is refrigerant R507A and external fluid is wet air. The outcomes are charts with model comparisons against exact exchanger measuring from the laboratory tests. The paper recommends a calculation scheme with the lowest deviation.
