Résumé

A transient one-dimensional heat and mass transfer model for a fin tube-based desiccant coated heat exchanger (DCHE) is presented in this paper. In DCHE modelling, the mass transfer coefficient is estimated from heat transfer correlations using the conventional heat and mass transfer analogy. The heat transfer correlations were developed based on fin tube heat exchangers (FTHE) experiments. They are randomly used in the modelling of DCHE, and no reason is provided for choosing a correlation in a given DCHE model. Hence, investigating the validity of the established correlations for the application of DCHE is necessary. Five well-established correlations of FTHE are considered in this study. The numerical results of different correlations are compared with four experimental results from the literature. Based on the comparison, the best correlation for predicting the outlet specific humidity and outlet temperature of air for modelling the silica gel coated DCHE is proposed.
