Conception optimale et performance générale de refroidisseurs à cycle de détente fonctionnant avec un mélange de frigorigènes.

Optimal design and generalized performance of throttle cycle coolers operating with mixed refrigerants.

Résumé

The paper presents performance data for throttle-cycle coolers operating with mixed refrigerants. Generalized experimental and computer modelling data allow evaluations of the performance data at different temperatures. Two cases have been considered: gaseous and liquefied refrigerant supplied to a cryostat. The experimental and modelling data were obtained for both multistage and single stage cycles. Cycle models are based on an equation of state for the calculation of thermodynamic properties of the refrigerants. Comparative experimental characteristics of a reciprocating hermetic compressor have been obtained for different refrigerants. The proposed correlations allow the prediction of volumetric and adiabatic efficiency of compressors operating with different refrigerants. Actual experimental data demonstrate the high performance of mixed refrigerant coolers operating below 190 K. A Carnot efficiency coefficient as high as 0.20 was achieved for small-scale coolers. At temperatures below 190 K mixed refrigerant coolers have better performance compared to conventional cascade systems.
