Condensation de butane et de propane purs et d'un mélange 44:56 à l'intérieur de tubes lisses et ailetés.

Condensation of pure butane and propane and a 44/56% mixture in a plain and micro-finned tubes.

Résumé

The objective of this study was to elaborate new and more accurate design methods for condensation of pure hydrocarbons and their mixtures inside plain and micro-fin tubes. The work was based on measurements of heat transfer coefficients on a test section representative of actual operating conditions. Three fluids have been used (butane, propane and a 44% butane-56% propane mixture). The mass velocity ranges from 120 to 900 kg/m2.s and the saturation temperature was varied from 25 to 70 °C corresponding to pressures between 4 and 18 bar. The parameters affecting the heat transfer performances have been studied and it is shown that the micro-fin tubes have heat transfer performances that are 1.7 times higher than those of plain tubes. Furthermore, the micro-fin tube seems not to be affected by the mixture effect. This study has allowed to develop and validate models for predicting condensation heat transfer coefficients of pure and mixed hydrocarbons in plain and micro-fin tubes.
