Résumé

In recent years, Web traffic data has increased significantly. Accordingly, it is necessary to process huge amounts of data high-density Datacom equipment in data centers. As a result, energy consumption by HVAC systems and Datacom equipment has increased. Therefore, it is very important to reduce energy consumption in data centers. Because of this situation, the most recent Datacom equipment developed in Japan has been designed to operate in a thermal range of 10°C to 40°C. Therefore, natural ventilation could be applied in data centers, which would substantially reduce energy consumption. In this paper, the thermal stratification efficiency (hereafter referred to as E-index) is defined as the efficiency of mixing between the air from the lower and upper zones in the room. A full-scale experiment in laboratory on natural ventilation system was presented. The E-index was discussed with experimental results. Then several energy consumption simulations were conducted, assuming different climate conditions.
