Résumé

Companies, organisations and consumers are asked to reduce energy consumption by all sorts of measures such as national or EU covenants, CO2 emissions trading and energy labelling on appliances. The Dutch Council for Refrigeration summons for large effort in energy saving and innovation in refrigeration. The increasing energy prices shorten payback times for saving measures. Many tough hindrances unfortunately still remain, such as low initial prices for installations due to competition, lack of interest by contractors and clients since energy is not a priority, price offers do not show the energy efficiency of the new-built installations whereas efficiencies of plants may vary by up to 40%. The article lists the energy saving measures of the past decade and shows realistic, close to practice, saving options in the near future of up to 30%.
