Résumé

This article evaluates the feasibility of MRI-guided percutaneous cryoablation of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCCs). Using an MRI-compatible, high pressure argon-based cryoablation system, MRI-guided percutaneous cryoablation was performed. Treatment was guided and monitored with an open MRI. 16 HCCs in 15 cases were treated. The average age was 61.4 years. The maximum diameters of tumours ranged from 1.2 to 4.5 cm (average: 2.5 cm). The numbers of probes ranged from 1 to 3 (average: 2.1). The follow-up periods were 4.5-27 months, (mean: 13.8 months). In all cases the cryoprobes were placed accurately with MRI-guidance and the frozen area was clearly delineated. In three cases local recurrences occurred. Transitory pleuritis, pneumothorax and hemothorax immediately after treatment were observed.
