Démocratisation de la régulation de la température par zone dans les bureaux climatisés : prototype.

A prototype system for democratic user control of zonal temperature in air-conditioned offices.

Résumé

Owing to individual differences, and the range of work activities, it is not possible to provide a single steady-state indoor environment which is satisfactory to all office occupants. But perceived control over the temperature improves worker comfort and productivity whilst reducing energy usage. One means of providing some control in air-conditioned offices is to allow the building end-users to choose the temperature of their local (i.e. zonal) environment. This may be achieved by installing a democratic voting system on networked personal computers which informs the building management system of the set-point temperature required by the majority of occupants in each zone. The paper presents the details of an EC funded project aimed at developing and evaluating such a software system.
