Résumé

A computer-based interactive framework has been developed interlinking transient simulation software (TRNSYS) and district energy management software (TERMIS) for the performance evaluation of district cooling systems. This framework has been used to perform a case-study of central cooling system at Nanyang Technological University of Singapore mainly for the purpose of model validation. Within this framework, a thermal model is developed in TRNSYS neglecting the effect of energy losses in the distribution network. The thermo-hydraulic model is developed in TERMIS taking into account detailed network distribution of chilled water. A methodology is found to couple the two models which eventually calculate the overall efficiency of district cooling system. At first, TRNSYS model is used to generate time series data for TERMIS model. The time series inputs are used to run TERMIS model to generate dynamic simulation data of the network. Model validation has been achieved comparing the simulation results with the actual plant operating data. The usefulness of the developed model has been explored further analyzing a number of simulating scenarios. The robustness of this performance analysis tool for the district cooling system has been found especially for performance forecasting and planning.
