Résumé

Ice slurry is utilized as a secondary refrigerant in air-conditioning systems due to its high thermal storage density and fluidity. However, the agglomeration behavior of ice particles, which can lead to pipe blockage, has not yet been fully clarified. In this study, flow experiments were conducted using ice slurries generated from NaCl and various aqueous solutions in horizontal circular pipes of different diameters. Visualization experiments using a high-speed camera revealed that under higher solute concentration conditions, ice particles tend to disperse uniformly, forming a "non-agglomerated flow." Conversely, "agglomerated flow" becomes dominant under lower concentration conditions. Furthermore, it was found that reducing the pipe diameter promotes the formation of non-agglomerated flow. These findings suggest that solute concentration and pipe diameter are critical parameters governing the flow patterns of ice slurry. The influence of solute species on flow characteristics is currently under investigation.
