Résumé

The squeeze film in high-pressure shell refrigerant compressors is lubricated by a refrigerant-oil mixture. The solubility of the refrigerant is highly influenced by pressure variations, leading to cavitation and the formation of a gas-liquid mixture within the thin film. This study develops a two-phase lubrication model based on refrigerant-oil solubility using the nonlinear finite element method. For the first time, results reveal that ‘reverse’ squeeze exhibits similar behavior to positive squeeze when solubility and high pressure are considered. However, simulated characteristics such as load-carrying capacity, minimal and maximal pressure, and end flow rate show significant differences compared to the results of the Reynolds boundary. These differences are due to the sub-ambient zone in the squeeze film under a pressurized refrigerant environment. Additionally, the effects of parameters such as environmental temperature, pressure, and saturation status on bearing performance are elaborated.
