Résumé

Recently, a considerable interest has been paid to the study of giant magnetocaloric effect in new materials, particularly in NiMnGa Heusler alloys with merged magnetic and structural phase transitions. High mechanical stability and small response time of heat exchange are among the most important demands which new materials should meet for potential application as a working body in magnetic cooling devices. NiMnGa thin films produced by magnetron sputtering on a solvable substrate seem to successfully satisfy these demands. They are characterized by a coupled magnetostructural transition and have good mechanical properties. The present work is devoted to the study of mechanical and magnetic properties of the NiMnGa thin films. Results of experimental studies of the shape memory effect and direct measurements of magnetocaloric effect by a quasi-isothermal technique are presented. The results are compared with results of theoretical calculations performed in the frameworks of molecular field theory and theory of martensitic transformations.
