Résumé

Vapour-liquid equilibrium (VLE) measurements were conducted for three binary refrigerant mixtures, namely, HFO-1234yf + R32, HFO-1234yf + R125, and HFO-1234yf + R134a, to investigate the feasibility of using a low GWP refrigerant mixture in residential air conditioners. An experimental apparatus was constructed using a static method. The VLE properties were measured at mass fractions of HFO-1234yf from 25 to 80%. Equilibrium pressures were measured at temperatures from 273.15 to 333.15 K, with 10 K intervals for each binary refrigerant mixture. The measured data were correlated using a Peng-Robinson-type equation of state and a Helmholtz-type equation of state combined with mixing rules. The binary interaction parameters included in the mixing rules were optimized to fit the measured VLE data of each binary system. It was found that the temperature glide of the HFO-1234yf + R32 refrigerant mixture was much larger than that of the other binary mixtures, implying a possible deterioration in the heat transfer performance and difficulty in heat exchangers and system design. It was also found that HFO-1234yf + R134a showed an azeotropic property around a mass fraction of 50/50%. The measured fundamental data of the vapour-liquid equilibrium is crucial for the optimization of a binary refrigerant mixture system.
