Résumé

Stopping an air-conditioning system for a few minutes will cause passive indoor temperature change. The passive rhythming air-conditioning system is a new proposal for air-conditioning methods using this temperature change, with passive temperature change once or twice an hour. Subjective experiments were done on the effects of passive temperature change on summer thermal comfort. The main results are as follows: 1) There was no difference in thermal comfort between the passive rhythming air-conditioning system and ordinary (constant temperature control) system in the case of 26 deg C base temperature. 2) In case of 5 and 10 minutes of stopping in the passive rhythming air-conditioning system, subjects' comfort was rather better than with ordinary systems. 3) It is suggested that the passive rhyhtming air-conditioning system is better, especially for females.
