Résumé

In the framework of a research project at Hamburg University of Technology the combination of an open cycle desiccant assisted air conditioning system and borehole heat exchangers is investigated experimentally by means of a test facility during summer and winter. The objective of this study is to evaluate the geothermal system and to investigate the energy efficiency of the overall system, based on data measured during winter 2017 for a temperate climate region. As an additional comfort aspect, moisture recovery by means of the existing hygroscopic material is possible within a desiccant assisted system if internal latent loads are available; the associated energy demand is limited to auxiliary energies. Different reference systems are defined to evaluate the performance of the investigated system in terms of energy demands required for air humidification. Compared with a system relying on electric isothermal humidification, the electrical energy demand for humidification is reduced by 50 % for the considered period. Coupled heat and moisture recovery is investigated as well as the performance of the enthalpy wheel based on lithium chloride. An average moisture recovery efficiency of 0.75 is achieved. Besides the energetic system evaluation, measured data regarding the soil temperature and thermal comfort are presented.
