Résumé

Air-conditioning of buildings is particularly energy consuming if the humidity of the air has to be reduced. In a conventional air-conditioning system (ACS) the dehumidification of the air is realized by cooling the air below the water dew-point of the supply air (SUP) by a vapor compression unit. The electricity demand for the air dehumidification can be in the same order as the electricity demand for the sensible cooling of the air depending on the water content and temperature of the air. The electricity demand can be significantly reduced if the air dehumidification is realized by an open liquid desiccant system in combination with a vapor compression system (VCS) [1] or by a standalone liquid desiccant system or by a liquid desiccant system combined with
evaporative cooling.
