Étude expérimentale de la vaporisation de l’eau à pression subatmosphérique dans différentes configurations géométriques liquides.

Experimental investigation on water vaporization at subatmospheric pressure in different liquid geometrical configuration.

Résumé

The study focuses on vaporization of drops on a superheated horizontal surface under low pressure conditions (pv ~ 1.8-1.9 kPa). Owing to the capabilities of a customized heat flux sensor, experiments for isolated drop quasi-static evaporation and consecutive drops were performed. The different thermohydraulic behaviours were visualized with a high-speed camera.
For the case of quasi-static isolated drop evaporation, several stages and associated governing phenomena were identified. For the case of vaporization of drops falling sequentially, three behaviours were unveiled: in some cases, the vaporization resembles the case of quasi-static evaporation but with a greater volume of liquid. In other cases, a splashing is observed. It can be due to the fall of the drop or to the growth of a bubble within the drop. In that case, the bursting is particularly noticeable because at low pressure, bubbles tend to have a large diameter (several centimetres).
