Résumé

A rotational type of AMR magnetic refrigerator with simple component formation and uncomplicated control system has been developed. The system is composed of a permanent magnet circuit which has 0.6 tesla of its magnetic flux density at gap center, a rotational disk which has circumferentially aligned 12 cells for magnetic particle packed bed and its casing that guides and controls the fluid flow through each packed bed cell, circulating pump, and rotation control unit. Gadolinium particles are applied as magnetocaloric material and deionized water as heat transfer fluid. The gadolinium particles packed cells are guided into magnetic field by rotation of the disk and heat transfer fluid supplied through cells when channels automatically and sequentially open and close by disk rotation. An experimental study has been conducted to obtain optimum condition of operation. Operating parameters such as heat transfer fluid flow rate, rotational frequency and inlet and outlet temperature of heat transfer fluid is examined and maximum temperature span between inlet and outlet of the heat transfer fluid is discussed. It is indicated that the rotation frequency and flow rate of heat transfer fluid greatly affect the heat transfer between fluid and gadolinium particles packed bed through rotation of the disk.
