Résumé

An experiment was conducted to investigate the condensation heat transfer characteristics of R134a in a horizontal set of nine smooth tubes, with the refrigerant in the superheated state entering the first tube. The tube inside diameter was 8.0 mm. The refrigerant mass flux was varied from 140 to 400 kg/m2.s, the imposed heat flux varied from 10 to 25 kW/m2, the inlet superheat ranged from 20 to 40°C, and the refrigerant condensation temperature varied from 30 to 45°C. These effects on the measured condensation heat transfer coefficient were examined, and the measured data were compared to four correlations developed for plain tubes. The experimental data clearly show the influence of a degree of superheat on the condensation heat transfer coefficient, especially in the high vapor quality areas near the inlet. The correlation by Boyko and Kruzhilin showed the best agreement with the experimental data.
