Etude expérimentale et méthode de calcul du coefficient de transfert lors de l'utilisation de coulis de glace comme frigoporteurs.

Experimental study and calculation method of heat transfer coefficient when using ice slurries as secondary refrigerant.

Résumé

The paper presents an experimental study of transport characteristics of ice slurries made of ice/water/ethanol mixtures. Wall temperature profiles in a circular smooth tube were obtained in fixed flux conditions. Local Nusselt and Reynolds numbers are calculated. Resulting calculated heat transfer coefficients fit experimental data with a good accuracy (plus or minus 13%). Values of 1500 to 2500 watts per m2 degree K were observed and were shown to depend mainly on ice concentration. These values were obtained in experimental conditions similar to many practical situations.
