Résumé

This study was conducted on ice slurry made by 11% of monopropylene glycol with various ice mass fractions through a horizontal pipe. The pressure drops, densities, temperatures, and ice slurry mass flow rates were measured and analyzed. First of all, the values of the pressure drop were validated with experimental results available in the literature. Then a numerical study of the flow of the ice slurry by pseudomonophasic flow model, which assumes the absence of the slip velocity between the phases and treats the ice slurry as a homogeneous and laminar fluid with thermophysical properties of the mixture. The rheological properties confirmed the non-Newtonian character of the ice slurry. The results show that there is a good agreement between the pressure drops of the present work and the literature. It was also found that the numerical analysis is very close to the experimental values in the case of a shear thinning flow.
