Résumé

Desiccant coated heat exchanger is fabricated by coating desiccant material to the air surface of conventional fin-tube heat exchanger. It can handle sensible and latent heat simultaneously. In this paper, an experimental setup of desiccant coated heat exchanger cooling system (DCHE) was built up and its performance was tested under different operation conditions. Silica gel was adopted as desiccant material to construct experimental system. The objective of this study is to evaluate cooling performance of DCHE system and to analyze how to improve its cooling capacity. Moisture removal capacity, cooling power and thermal COP were adopted as the indices to show overall system performance. Experimental results show that system performance can be significantly increased by adopting cooling water in dehumidification process. It is also found that both cooling power and thermal COP can be further improved by controlling the operation of air fan and water pump separately. Also, it is seen that under the experimental conditions, dehumidification capacity of DCHE system increases with the increasing of regeneration temperature, and there exists an optimal regeneration temperature of about 70°C to obtain the biggest thermal COP. Lower air flow rate results in higher moisture removal as well as higher thermal COP.
