Résumé

An experimental study was conducted to assess the material compatibility of various components in hermetic compressors with different refrigerant-lubricant combinations. A specially designed life cycle test rig, using a gas cycle, was used for this purpose. After the test, some compressor parts were evaluated for wear and the oil for acidity, metal content and viscosity. Tests with HFC-134a, Destenched (aerosol propellant grade) LPG and a blend of HFC-134a and HC-600a were conducted in combination with mineral oil.
