Résumé

The direct contact condenser is widely used in areas of nuclear plants, the sea water desalination and air conditioning system due to its simple structure and high heat transfer efficiency. The liquid column types (in which the liquid falls freely) offer several advantages compared to other types including lower pressure drop, inexpensive cost, larger operational range and et al. However, both liquid type and the noncondensable gas will affect the performance dramatically. In the current study, a test apparatus was constructed to measure the heat transfer performance between the liquid columns and surrounding vapor under various falling velocities, diameter and number of liquid columns, by employing the pure water and anti-freezing solution as the working fluids respectively. Two kinds of mathematical models are set up to predict the performance of this direct contact condenser based on the experimental data. The result shows the analytical and numerical models predicted the heat transfer performance between the vapor and subcooled water if there is no noncondensable gas and the heat transfer performance exponentially attenuates with an
increase in the injected noncondensable gas.
