Résumé

Nowadays, condensers in automotive air-conditioning systems are realized in terms of IRDCs (integrated receiver drier condensers) for packaging, cost and energy efficiency reasons. Interaction between these three integrated components offers an interesting potential for energy efficiency optimization in future automotive air-conditioning systems. Experimental techniques to determine refrigerant charge in the condenser as well as the receiver/drier under transient conditions are discussed; flow patterns inside the separator are visualized and analyzed. Furthermore, the influences of non condensable gases on IRDC as well as cycle operating characteristics are described. Based on the obtained measurement data a simulation model is designed and applied to study and identify the energy-saving benefits of a new subcool control compared to a conventional control design.
