Evaluation des impacts sur l'environnement des systèmes de conditionnement d'air au stade de la conception.

Evaluation of the environmental impacts of air-conditioning systems at the design stage.

Résumé

Increased environmental concern in the past decade has resulted in requirements for design of AC systems with low environmental impacts. To identify potential environmental impacts, all relevant materials and energy sources during the whole life cycle of AC systems should be taken into account, and an appropriate methodology should be used. However, the process of environmental assessment is complex and time consuming. The purpose of this paper was to examine how the environmental assessment at the design stage of AC systems could be organized. A case study is presented, where a life cycle assessment, using a weighting method, provides information on the environmental impact of an air-and-water system for an office building in Sweden. The case study is then used to illustrate which parts of the designer's daily work with the environmental assessment that could be implemented in an environmental management system.
