Résumé

The joint research project “EvaSolK (Evaluation of chances and limits of solar cooling compared to reference technologies: analysis of solar thermal and photovoltaic driven cooling)” has started in June 2010 and is scheduled until the end of 2012. Aim of this project is a general review under which boundary conditions and in which applications perspectives for solar cooling can be expected. Systems for the air conditioning of buildings and cold storage/process cooling will be the main focus. Solar thermal and solar electrical driven technologies will be comprehensively compared. A detailed comparison of these technologies has not been carried out so far. Such comparison is of high interest however in view of a rising share of renewable energies in power generation and decreasing cost of photovoltaic electricity. The approach of this project includes a comparison of the different cooling and airconditioning technologies in terms of primary energy input, CO2-emissions, energetic efficiency and costs. In addition the issue of the remaining grid load will be qualitatively addressed. The evaluation of the state of the art of conventional electrically driven cooling technologies is of particular interest in this context. One part of the project is the exemplary measuring of several compression systems under real operating conditions. Analyses are mainly carried out corresponding to the current technical status. Potentials for efficiency increase are cautiously estimated however and separately considered.
