Résumé

The report summarizes theoretical and experimental performance comparisons of R245ca with both R11 and R123, for which it is a potential replacement, in a multistage, centrifugal chiller. It also addresses environmental advantages and safety concerns, notably including the marginal flammability of R245ca and concludes with an assessment of commercial viability for both retrofit and new applications. Volume 2 contains the chiller test data in both imperial and metric units. Both raw data and reduced data such as heat transfer coefficients and compressor adiabatic efficiency are provided.
