Résumé

This paper presents the experimental and theoretical investigations on heating performance of an electric vehicle heat pump system (EVHPS). The experiments were operated under various conditions involving refrigerant charge, outside air temperature and compressor speed. From the system point of view, the coefficient of performance (COP) and exergy destruction were deduced based on the experimental data. Furthermore, exergy efficiency was derived on the component level for identifying the principal factors affecting EVHPS heating performance. Based on the thermodynamic analysis, COP of the developed EVHPS was in the range of 1.78-2.64 and exergy destruction was in the range of 0.61-1.28 kW. The exergy efficiency results revealed that the double-deck parallel flow condenser (37.91%~53.05%) and parallel flow evaporator (34.21%~61.77%) exhibited larger irreversibility within the EVHPS. Therefore, more efforts should be focused on improving these components. The results may provide guidelines for EVHPS design and optimization.
