Fluorocarbures modernes.

Contemporary fluorocarbons.

Auteurs : HUGHES H. M.

Résumé

The paper discusses the transition away from chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs). The CFCs have been replaced by alternative fluorocarbons, the hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs). Fluorocarbons still dominate as refrigerants, and virtually all applications that traditionally have been linked with the use of fluorocarbon refrigerants, continue to use them. Alternatives are used in unitary and positive displacement chiller systems. It appears the leading candidates to supplant the chlorine-containing fluorocarbon refrigerants also will be fluorocarbons but from the chlorine-free HFC family. While the replacement for R123 is less certain, R245fa has emerged as the most likely candidate.
