Résumé
A task/ambient system with a ceiling radiation membrane was developed to achieve high level of thermal satisfaction in an office while saving energy. The field survey, in an office located in Tokyo in the summer of 2010, revealed that about 60% of occupants were not satisfied with their thermal environment when the preset air temperature was 28°C. The purpose of this paper is to find out the operating method of the air conditioner for balancing thermal comfort and energy saving. In the summer of 2011, the field survey was conducted in the same office as in 2010. During the survey period, three conditions were set up; 28_N (normal operation, 28°C preset air temperature), 27_R (rotating operation, 27°C preset air temperature) and 27_N (normal operation, 27°C preset air temperature) in order to assess the impact of preset air temperature and operation of the air conditioner on thermal comfort and energy saving. In this survey, indoor environment and operation data were measured, and a subjective survey was conducted about the indoor environment using a questionnaire. The results showed that the number of occupants who were not satisfied with their thermal environment decreased by 61% by turning the preset air temperature down from 28°C to 27°C. The energy data showed that rotating operation (the operation of two indoor units situated in a diagonal position and operated in hourly) consumed about 30% less energy than normal operation.
