Résumé

Compressors are the largest energy consumers in refrigeration plant besides fans and pumps. Due to efforts of the European Parliament to save energy, with a directive about energy consuming products manufacturers and plant designers have to think about how this can be achieved. Through "eco adaptation" of products an episode of the product's life cycle can be influenced positively. This leads to higher capital investment in establishing a plant. However this can be balanced or topped by minimizing the operating costs.
