Résumé

This guide is part of the Advanced Energy Design Guide series. It has been developed by ASHRAE, the American Institute of Architects, the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America, the US Green Building Council, and the US Department of Energy. It is the sixth in a series that provides recommendations for achieving 30% energy savings over minimum requirements of ANSI/ASHRAE/IESNA Standard 90.1-1999 for small hospitals and healthcare facilities. The energy savings target of 30% is the first step in the process toward achieving a net zero energy building, which is defined as a building that, on an annual basis, draws from outside resources equal or less energy than it provides using on-site renewable energy sources. The guide helps to achieve advanced energy savings without detailed calculations or analyses. It includes recommendations for all 8 US climate zones and additional recommendations identify other opportunities to incorporate greater energy savings into the design of the building. In the appendices: envelope thermal performance factors; climatic zones for Canada and Mexico; commissioning information and examples; ENERGY STAR equipment; and additional resources. The guide was prepared under ASHRAE Special Project 127.
