Thermoacoustic oscillation and heat transfer in He II.

Résumé

Thermoacoustic oscillation with continuous sound-emissions is triggered at the lambda-transition on an innermost heated-surface in a channel of subcooled He II. The oscillation causes a considerable cooling effect. At lower bath pressures above the lambda-pressure, two types of the oscillation appear periodically in the thermoacoustic boiling state; one contributes strong cooling with clear sounds of fundamental frequency, the other emits noisy sounds with weak cooling. Some workflow may compensate a reduction in the heat-flow during the oscillation. The fundamental frequency depends on the channel length reflecting the nature of the first sound.
