The impact of building design on thermal comfort and energy conservation in South China.

Résumé

In the paper, the indoor thermal environment of buildings in south China (very hot and humid in summer) has been investigated. The authors analyse how the architectural design (including building orientation, building plans, glazing area, roof styles, wall structure and ventilation) affects building thermal environment and energy consumption. The results show that the thermal comfort and energy saving can be achieved by using good building design technology aided by computer technology.
