Résumé

This work presents the evaluation, from an energy point of view, of the effects of the superheat associated with the cooling of the electrical motor of semihermetic compressors in carbon dioxide refrigeration plants. The analysis is based on 84 experimental tests, which cover a wide range of operating conditions of an experimental test facility (evaporating temperature from -17.0 to 0.0ºC, compressor speed from 1150 to 1600 rpm, and discharge pressures from 74.2 to 104.9 bar.) In the paper, a parametric model of the compressor and its validation are presented. The model is used to estimate the energy impact of the superheat associated to the electrical motor cooling by comparing the actual performance of the plant with the simulated behaviour without considering that superheat. Results show a maximum reduction in cooling capacity of 20% and in efficiency of 23%.
