Résumé

The isosteric heat of adsorption was used to evaluate the adsorptive performance of hydrogen on the activated carbon YK-1. Characterizations of the tested sample were carried out based on the N2 adsorption isotherm at 77 K. Hydrogen adsorption isotherms were volumetrically measured at equilibrium temperature-pressures from 113-310 K and 0-12.3 MPa. Isosteric heats of adsorption at four adsorption amount and that at zero surface loading were respectively determined by adsorption isosteres and the temperature dependence of the Henry's constants. Results show that the mean and the limit of the isosteric heat of adsorption is about 4.5 and 5.373 kJ/mol. Conclusions are drawn that the relatively smaller isosteric heat of hydrogen adsorption on the activated carbon could be ascribed to the smaller specific surface area and the microporous volume.
